7 Detailed Description

7.1 Overview

The LP8733xx-Q1 is a high-efficiency, high-performance flexible power supply device with two step-down

DC/DC converter cores (Buck0 and Buck1) and two low-dropout (LDO) linear regulators (LDO0 and LDO1)

for automotive applications. The cores can be configured for a two single-phase output and dual-phase single

output configuration. Table 7-1 lists the output characteristics of the regulators.

The LP8733xx-Q1 also supports switching clock synchronization to an external clock (CLKIN pin). The nominal

frequency of the external clock can be from 1 MHz to 24 MHz with 1-MHz steps.

Additional features include:

• Soft-start

• Input voltage protection:

– Overvoltage protection

• Output voltage monitoring and protection:

– Overvoltage monitoring

– Undervoltage monitoring

– Overload protection

• Thermal warning

• Thermal shutdown

The LP8733xx-Q1 has one dedicated general purpose digital output (GPO) signal. The CLKIN pin can be

programmed as a second GPO signal (GPO2), if the external clock is not needed. The output type (open-drain

or push-pull) is programmable for the GPOs.
