Typical Application
Figure 1-2 shows an example of a typical application
of the MCP2518FD device. In this example, the
microcontroller operates at 3.3V.
The MCP2518FD device interfaces directly with
microcontrollers operating at 2.7V to 5.5V. In addition, the
MCP2518FD device connects directly to high-speed
CAN FD transceivers. There are no external level shifters
required when connecting VDD of the MCP2518FD and
the microcontroller to VIO of the transceiver.
The VDD of the CAN FD transceiver is connected to
5V.
The SPI interface is used to configure and control the
CAN FD controller.
The MCP2518FD device signals interrupts to the
microcontroller by using INT, INT0 and INT1. Interrupts
need to be cleared by the microcontroller through SPI.
The
CLKO
pin
provides
the
clock
to
the
microcontroller.
