Capture Input Mode

ToselectthismodebitsPTnM1andPTnM0inthePTMnC1registershouldbesetto01respectively.

Thismodeenablesexternalsignalstocaptureandstorethepresentvalueoftheinternalcounter

andcanthereforebeusedforapplicationssuchaspulsewidthmeasurements.Theexternalsignalis

suppliedonthePTCKnpinwhichisselectedusingthePTnCAPTSbitinthePTMnC1register.The

inputpinactiveedgecanbeeitherarisingedge,afallingedgeorbothrisingandfallingedges;the

activeedgetransitiontypeisselectedusingthePTnIO1andPTnIO0bitsinthePTMnC1register.

ThecounterisstartedwhenthePTnONbitchangesfromlowtohighwhichisinitiatedusingthe

applicationprogram.

WhentherequirededgetransitionappearsonthePTCKnpinthepresentvalueinthecounterwillbe

latchedintotheCCRAregistersandaPTMninterruptgenerated.Irrespectiveofwhateventsoccur

onthePTCKnpin,thecounterwillcontinuetofreerununtilthePTnONbitchangesfromhighto

low.WhenaCCRPcomparematchoccursthecounterwillresetbacktozero;inthiswaytheCCRP

valuecanbeusedtocontrolthemaximumcountervalue.WhenaCCRPcomparematchoccursfrom

ComparatorP,aPTMninterruptwillalsobegenerated.Countingthenumberofoverflowinterrupt

signalsfromtheCCRPcanbeausefulmethodinmeasuringlongpulsewidths.ThePTnIO1and

PTnIO0bitscanselecttheactivetriggeredgeonthePTCKnpintobearisingedge,fallingedgeor

bothedgetypes.IfthePTnIO1andPTnIO0bitsarebothsethigh,thennocaptureoperationwill

takeplaceirrespectiveofwhathappensonthePTCKnpin,howeveritmustbenotedthatthecounter

willcontinuetorun.

AsthePTCKnpinispinsharedwithotherfunctions,caremustbetakenifthePTMnisinthe

CaptureInputMode.Thisisbecauseifthepinissetupasanoutput,thenanytransitionsonthispin

maycauseaninputcaptureoperationtobeexecuted.ThePTnCCLR,PTnOCandPTnPOLbitsare

notusedinthisMode.
