5 / 12 page  DS1321 5 of 12 FRESHNESS SEAL MODE When the battery is first attached to the DS1321 without VCC power applied, the device does not immediately provide battery-backup power on VCCO. Only after VCCI exceeds VCCTP will the DS1321 leave Freshness Seal Mode. This mode allows a battery to be attached during manufacturing but not used until after the system has been activated for the first time.
