Capture Input Mode

ToselectthismodebitsPTnM1andPTnM0inthePTMnC1registershouldbesetto01respectively.

Thismodeenablesexternalsignalstocaptureandstorethepresentvalueoftheinternalcounter

andcanthereforebeusedforapplicationssuchaspulsewidthmeasurements.Theexternalsignalis

suppliedonthePTPnorPTCKnpin,selectedbythePTnCKSbitinthePTMnC1register.Theinput

pinactiveedgecanbearisingedge,afallingedgeorbothrisingandfallingedges;theactiveedge

transitiontypeisselectedusingthePTnIO1andPTnIO0bitsinthePTMnC1register.Thecounter

isstartedwhenthePTnONbitchangesfromlowtohighwhichisinitiatedusingtheapplication

program.

WhentherequirededgetransitionappearsonthePTPnorPTCKnpinthepresentvalueinthe

counterwillbelatchedintotheCCRAregistersandaTMinterruptgenerated.Irrespectiveofwhat

eventsoccuronthePTPnorPTCKnpinthecounterwillcontinuetofreerununtilthePTnON

bitchangesfromhightolow.WhenaCCRPcomparematchoccursthecounterwillresetback

tozero;inthiswaytheCCRPvaluecanbeusedtocontrolthemaximumcountervalue.Whena

CCRPcomparematchoccursfromComparatorP,aTMinterruptwillalsobegenerated.Counting

thenumberofoverflowinterruptsignalsfromtheCCRPcanbeausefulmethodinmeasuringlong

pulsewidths.ThePTnIO1andPTnIO0bitscanselecttheactivetriggeredgeonthePTPnorPTCKn

pintobearisingedge,fallingedgeorbothedgetypes.IfthePTnIO1andPTnIO0bitsarebothset

high,thennocaptureoperationwilltakeplaceirrespectiveofwhathappensonthePTPnorPTCKn

pin,howeveritmustbenotedthatthecounterwillcontinuetorun.

AsthePTPnpinispinorPTCKnpinsharedwithotherfunctions,caremustbetakenifthePTMn

isintheInputCaptureMode.Thisisbecauseifthepinissetupasanoutput,thenanytransitionson

thispinmaycauseaninputcaptureoperationtobeexecuted.ThePTnCCLR,PTnOCandPTnPOL

bitsarenotusedinthisMode.
